Position Overview
The Sr. Manager of National Merchandising manages and oversees the National Merchandising team, recommend strategic direction, oversee vendor negotiations, and expand gross profit opportunities and sales programs to help all Independent Regions attain their Sales and Flyer Gross Profit budgets with a designated roster of large, National vendors within assigned departments/categories.This role is the bridge between National Vendors and Regional Merchandising teams and their customers. The Sr Manager is responsible for overseeing the development of growth strategies, negotiating national deals, setting merchandising objectives and related sales programs for assigned departments in Center Store, List Cost Fresh, or GM/HBC/Seasonal Candy. Leadership of these categories is be defined by formatting, communicating, assisting in Regional translations and monitoring execution/results via Regional Merchandising Teams, and success isdefined by category growth, gross margin expansion, and customer satisfaction. The role requires close collaboration with Category Development Managers to understand and actualize emerging category trends and consumer needs and reflect in strategic category growth plans.
Job Description
- Supervise the negotiation of National Merchandising programs for all Merchandising divisions with all assigned departments/categories/manufacturers
- Provide leadership to optimize manufacturer category trade funding through funding knowledge, analytics, tracking and strategic planning
- Oversee the generation of National Merchandising programs that provide competitive vehicles for the independent customers through an understanding of regional itemization, trends, demographics, pricing and manufacturer go to market strategies.
- Manage setup and maintenance of item and National vendor data integrity (pricing/item accuracy/item changes/item assortment/category marketing info/ deductions)
- Supervise the NCM's contribution for the achievement of both National and Regional gross profit goals
- Oversee the product mix management through manufacturer innovation and collaboration with the Category Development Managers
- Interface with outside C&S departments as well as retail customers for resolutions, IMS-Vendor relations, and Prompt- AVS resolutions.
- Supervise the coordination with regional merchandising teams for program planning, execution and financial achievement
- Supervise regional food-show manufacturer support and programs

- 5-7: years of experience in merchandising/category management in the wholesale or retail industry
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration
